Dunno *any* of 'em. Guess I don't get out as much as I used to.

Look at the headers, jones. It's a bunch of low rent trolls and k00ks
hunting more k00ks to troll. tinkerbell drug them in here awhile back.
When you post, just trim the headers. Now, they will be around for quite
some time and just ramble on about those stupid awards they created.
Hell,
the aukers should award the k00k for life to themselves.
Listen to him, Jonesy. Daryl *knows* what he's talking about.

naw.... it's from being shot down so many times in UMA.
I think you'll find that an Ace is one who's never been shot down. My
tag was well deserved.
No, a pilot ace is a pilot who has shot down x (5?) number of enemy aircraft.
(some ace's certainly were shot down and lived to fly again.)

Ace...now your credibility is in question...were you a stewardess?

Its pretty well accepted that Ace's posts produced more responses than
anyone else's in the history of uma. It is also my estimation that at
one time Ace was simultaneously the most widely read and most widely
killfiled poster in uma. That's a fantastic combination indicating
clear success.

May I also note that we started off here with a Daryl Hunt thread,
moved to a nice little cascade of the Dead Parrot sketch, and now are
talking about Ace. Wonder how many times there's been a similar
pattern of a thread ending up being about Ace?

kind of like that which the 1st Chutai enjoyed: he ran wild for a short
period of time, and then the tide turned. nothing quite like American
ingenuity, once we've been wakened from our slumber...

the repercussions are still reverberating through what's left of
this part of Usenet....not that means anything IRL.

Funny how Monty Python made it to America and yet other cult UK TV
doesn't? (I'm guessing the way my Red Dwarf quote fell on deaf ears
meant it never made it over there)

Why is it that for British stuff to succeed in the States it has to be
either:

a. Have a token American actor
b. Be a period piece.
c. Be remade with American actors.

We'd be perfectly happy watching something set in 70s America (well,
we've been doing it for years) But cult TV show 'Life on Mars' set in
70s Britain had to be remade for the American market. I just don't
believe Americans are that dumb.

Wait a minute, this is a thread about Daryl, isn't it?

What US shows were on the BBC or ITV during the Monty Python era?
M*A*S*H was probably the only one. Taxi! was on later in the 70s, but
that was a remake of the early 60s British version. Mork and Mindy
reached our screens around the mid 70s.

My favorite moment was when V-Man killfiled everyone who responded to
me. After a week of heated debate over the foolhardiness or otherwise
of two US pilots flying into an Italian cable car, V-Man came up with
the comment, "Why's it so quiet in here? Where's everyone gone?" or
words to that effect.
